Real PE

The school has invested in a national program called Real PE which gives EVERY child the physical literacy, emotional and thinking skills to achieve in PE, Sport and life.

This unique, child centred approach transforms how we teach PE at Old Hutton.

Real PE provides fun and simple to follow Schemes of Work and support for teachers to give them the confidence and skills to deliver outstanding PE.

It is fully aligned to the National Curriculum and Ofsted requirements and focuses on the development of agility, balance and coordination, healthy competition and cooperative learning through a unique and market leading approach to teaching and learning in PE.

Real PE is, first and foremost, a philosophy and approach which aims to transform how we teach PE in order to include, challenge and support EVERY child. It supports teachers and other deliverers to make small changes that will have a significant impact on their learners.

The documents below outline the learning that is taking place in each year group.

Outdoor Adventurous Activities

At Old Hutton we believe in the importance of Outdoor Learning. We believe that taking the curriculum outdoors has a considerably beneficial impact on the learning and development of our pupils. From enhancing problems solving skills to communication and resilience, outdoor learning provides endless opportunities for exploration, experimentation and contextual learning.

We are lucky enough to have our own forest area in our school grounds. The pupils love using this space to enhance their learning. We also work in partnership with Windermere Outdoor Adventure Centre and Kendal Climbing Wall to provide all our pupils with progressive blocks of lessons in sailing, paddleboarding, canoeing and climbing.

For further information about PE at Old Hutton, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Turley at school.
